The Columbus community is mourning the tragic loss of Sarosh Sheth, a 21-year-old pedestrian who died following a devastating crash in the Weinland Park neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. Sheth was one of two pedestrians struck by a vehicle during an afternoon collision that left him critically injured.
According to Columbus police, the crash occurred around 2:42 p.m. on July 22 when a Ford Mustang traveling eastbound on King Avenue reportedly left the roadway after running a red light and struck two pedestrians walking along the sidewalk in the 1300 block of North High Street near King and East 7th avenues.
Sheth was transported in critical condition to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead at approximately 3:15 p.m. His passing has left family, friends, and members of the Columbus community grieving the sudden loss of a young life.
The Mustang continued moving after striking the pedestrians and eventually landed on top of a parked vehicle in a nearby private parking lot. The impact pushed the parked vehicle into two other cars. A person inside the parked vehicle was also transported to the hospital in stable condition, while the second pedestrian remained in critical condition following the crash.
Authorities took the driver of the Mustang into custody after the collision. Columbus police spokesperson Sgt. Joe Albert stated that investigators believe alcohol or drugs may have contributed to the crash, though the investigation remains ongoing. Police have not yet announced the driver’s identity or confirmed any charges.
